The List is based on 11 national Best Workplaces studies in Latin America and is the largest study of workplace practices of its kind. For the 2011 edition, more than 1,900 companies participated, representing 2,8 million employees in the region.

The companies are presented in two separate Lists featuring the 50 Best Multinational Companies and the 50 Best non-multinational companies.
In order to be eligible for the Multinational List, a company must have operations in at least 3 countries, must have at least 1,000 employees globally and 40% of its global workforce must work outside the home country.

The List is published in the HSM Magazine in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico as well as a number of other national publications in Latin America.
